The Crossroads of America Scout Band is recognized as the OLDEST, continuously operating Scout Band in America! Founded as a Drum and Bugle Corps in 1917 by Mr. F.O. "Chief" Belzer to play at ceremonies at summer camp and other Council functions, the organization evolved into a full band by the early 1920's. The Band has a rich heritage and has toured throughout the United States, Canada and a trip to London, England to celebrate Scouting's 100th anniversary in 2007. The Band has celebrated its own 100th anniversary in 2017!

Full Band Rehearsals
Rehearsals will continue October 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, November 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd. Remember our new home is at Christ Presbyterian Church, 7879 Carroll Rd, McCordsville, IN 46055 (yes, this is Mr. Bill's church).
Cool Crew Jazz Band Rehearsals
Jazz Band Practice will resume on the second and fourth Sundays of each month at A NEW TIME 4 pm. (excluding holidays) in the Fall, Winter, and Spring Months. Currently the Jazz Band will be rehearsing October 12th and 26th, November 9th and 23rd. As mentioned above our rehearsals has been moved to the new location.

If you received an invitation from our very special recruiter, Becky Lottes, or a postcard in the mail or an email we warmly welcome you to bring your instrument and play with us!
If you play a band instrument (woodwind, brass, or percussion) we invite you to join us Sunday, November 2nd at 2 pm and be part of the fun we have planned for this year! Bring your parents along too and we will meet with them and fill them in on the Band's plans, its past and its future. Your musical ability can be anywhere from beginner to "pro" - we have them all in the band. If you are new to your instrument this is a great place to strengthen your musical ability and work in some extra practice time (you know your school band director will love the sound of that!) You do not need to be in Scouting to attend, however, any Scout-aged boy or girl (11-18 years old) or Venture Crew or Explorer aged male or female (14-21 years old) is eligible to be a member of the Band. If you have an older brother or sister (or Mom or Dad) who also plays an instrument but is not registered in Scouting, they can join the Band's Venture Crew 559 and enjoy the extra opportunity to share their musical talents.
November 8th, Saturday Flag Retirement at Fishers American Legion - report time 8:30 am
We have been asked again to play Patriotic Music as Troop 303 and 3030 Retire and Honor Fallen Flags at the Fishers American Legion at 9091 E 126th St, Fishers, IN 46038 We will set up on the east side of the parking lot near the ceremonial burn pit, usually under a tent. Please Plan to arrive at 8:45 am to set up and we will be provided donuts, hot cocoa, and coffee served at 9:30 am. We will play starting around 10 am and play until all flags have been retired (or we get tired of playing). There will be a food fundraiser from 11 am to 1 pm so bring cash to buy chicken and Pit-Tatoes, or you can order them ahead online at the above webpage.
Elizabeth Richardson Eagle Court of Honor & Concert, Sunday, November 16th
Our very own Elizabeth Richardson, flute player and daughter of long time Scout Band Alumni, Fred Richardson, will be recieving her Eagle Rank in a Court of Honor Ceremony to be held at the American Legion Post 331 in Brownsburg, Indiana. The date is set for November 16th with a COH start time at 1 pm with music from the Scout Band starting around 1 pm. Band Members please plan to arrive at 12:15 pm to help unload the Band Truck and set up inside the American Legion building. Help celebrate this historic event with Elizabeth by attending and playing.

Our 2025 Scouting We Go Tour Was A Big Success!
The Scout Band's 2025 Scouting We Go Tour went to Spring Mill State Park, Cincinnati, Ohio for a River Boat Cruise and Newport Aquarium, Columbus, IN to visit the Columbus Zoo and Zoobenzi Bay, Mohican Adventures and Cabins where we kayaked and tubed down the river, played mini-golf, broke Erika's foot on the obstacle course, then to Fort Wayne to visit Sweetwater Music, and played at Camp Chief Little Turtle, then to Auburn, IN to visit the Auburn, Cord, Duesenburg Car Museum. If you are used to typing in Scoutband.com you will still get and error, so don't forget to type in Scoutband.org in your web browser's URL box to get back to this page!
All of the original content from the Scoutband.com site is preserved and accessible on Scoutband.org and will be enhanced in the coming years. We hope to someday re-aquire the Scoutband.com Domain name to use again to help those who are struggling with our updated URL. Jazz Band Rehearsals
Come join us if you are interested in a different kind of music from an earlier era. Jazz Band Rehearsals start at 4:00 pm every second and fourth Sunday for the Jazz Band right after Full Band Rehearsal at 2:00 pm every Sunday through the end of the year. The Jazz Band will be starting up rehearsals again at our new rehearsal home at Christ Presbyterian Church located at 7879 Carroll Road, McCordsville, Indiana 46055. Rehearsal starts at 4:00 pm and lasts until 5:00pm, EXCEPT on holiday weekends.
If you are ready to play a different style of music or wish to extend your musical range, the Cool Crew Jazz Band might just be for you. This is a new addition requested by the Band Youth. More instruments are needed so contact Janet Foster or Mr. Ben if you are interested in playing.
